A logo in simple terms refers to a visual mark or emblem that can be associated with a company or a business. This mark or design that has been registered to its name becomes something that is used by the company on its Letterheads, Advertising messages, Hoardings and any official communication. So, the idea is that a design is so created and associated so that it can be instantly recognized as the company without having to specify the name of the company.
If we look at the history of the logos, flags can be considered as the early representation. Though they were essentially used by places to mark their domains, they were the earliest signs that people used emblems or pictures to identify with something of importance. This was followed by “crests” which were used by large and rich families who used these intricate crests to distinguish their family from others.
